Incident-free celebrations mark 61 I-day in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 15 (UNI) Independence Day celebrations concluded on a peaceful note here today, as people from all walks of life participated in the flag hoisting ceremonies organised by various government and private institutions.

A heavy security cover was in place to ensure incident-free celebrations in Jammu city. ''There is no report of any untoward incident from any part of the region,'' Police Control Room said.

The main celebration in this region was held at Mini Stadium Parade Ground here.

State Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma unfurled the tricolour and took salute of an impressive parade.

Reports reaching here from district headquarters at Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Kathua, Poonch and Rajouri said the official functions to mark the 61st Independence Day passed off peacefully.

UNI
