I Day celebrated across MP

Bhopal, Aug 15 (UNI) The 60th anniversary of the nation's independence was celebrated with fervour and gaiety in the state capital and rest of the state.

Flag-hoisting, glittering parades and cultural programmes by schoolchildren were the order of the day. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unfurled the Tricolour at the local Motilal Nehru Stadium and took the salute at a parade. Talents from various fields were honoured with awards.

Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani unfurled the National Flag at the cantonment town Jabalpur while his deputy Hazarilal Raghuvanshi did likewise at Betul district headquarters and members of the Council of Ministers did so at 25 district headquarters while collectors did likewise at other district headquarters.
