Haryana Governor calls for shuning petty politics

Kaithal, Aug 15 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today appealed to the people to rise above petty politics and work unitedly to make India a leading nation in the world.

Speaking at the state level Independence Day function at Police Line here after unfurling the National Flag and taking salute from the smartly dressed up contingents of Police, Home Guard, N.C.C. boys and girls and girl guides, the Governor said that sincere efforts be made to remove poverty and unemployment.

On this auspicious occasion he paid warm tributes to the known and unknown martyrs and freedom fighters of the country.

The Goevrnor distributed 35 tricycles and 5 wheel chairs to the handicapped. He also honored freedom fighters, their widows and 15 others for their social work and meritorious services.

A cultural programme was presented by the school children which regaled the audience immensely. The Governor announced a sum of Rs 1.01 lakh for the participants.

Speaker R S Kadian unfurled the national flag at Yamunagar while ministers were the chief guests in other districts of the state. The Day was also celebrated at the sub divisional and tehsil level in the state.
