SINGAPORE, Aug 15 (Reuters) Gold held steady on Wednesday but was under pressure because of firming U.S. dollar, while Tokyo futures extended losses to track a drop in New York.

-- Spot gold was at 668.50/669.20 an ounce, flat from $668.30/668.90 late in New York on Tuesday, when it fell $1.20 as the dollar rose against other currencies.

-- In official gold sales, gold and gold receivables held by euro-zone central banks fell by 45 million euros ($61.12 million) in the week ending Aug. 10, compared with a high of 288 million in the week ending July 20, the European Central Bank said.

-- Most active June 2008 gold futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange fell 12 yen per gram to 2,553 yen, reflecting losses in New York's COMEX market.

-- The euro slipped to a six-week low against the dollar on Wednesday and high-yielding currencies stayed weak as investors continued to unwind risky positions on concerns that the fallout from U.S. subprime problems was spreading to other countries.

-- The euro nudged down to $1.3523 from $1.3533 in late New York trade to hit its lowest level since late June.

The dollar was little changed at 117.45 yen , within sight of a four-month low of 117.19 yen touched last week.

-- Platinum rose to $1,269/1,274 an ounce from $1,266.50/1,273.50 late in New York.

-- Silver edged down to $12.67/12.72 an ounce from $12.69/12.72 an ounce.

-- Palladium edged up to $350/355 an ounce from $349.50/353.50 an ounce late in New York on Tuesday, when it had dropped to $344 an ounce -- a five-month low.
