Varanasi, Aug 15 (UNI) The peasant father of a criminal, gunned down in a fake encounter by the Allahabad Police on September 18, 2006, has demanded severest possible punishment to those responsible, who ruthlessly killed the youth, who was ready to surrender.

Shiv Murat Mishra, the father of Arun Kumar Mishra alias Pintu Mishra, interacting with newspersons at village Mureri in Cholapur area here, termed his son's killing in the fake encounter as a ''cold blooded murder'' by policemen in the Civil Lines area of Allahabad.

''Those responsible should be awarded stringent possible punishment for eliminating my son, even though, he was ready to surrender,'' Mr Mishra said, in a choked voice.

Meanwhile, Station Officer of Cholapur Police Station, Sita Ram Chowdhary told three criminal cases pertaining to loot and criminal assault were registered against Pintu in Cholapur between 2002 and 2006.

Action was also initiated against Pintu under Section 110 G of CrPC in 2006, following which he shifted his operations to the neighbouring districts.

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a CB-CID probe into the Allahabad fake encounter episode, with the DGP of UP Police also assuring registering of a case of murder against the concerned cops, if the charges were proved.
