CM pledges to streamline administration
Panaji, Aug 15 (UNI) Goa CM Digambar Kamat pledged to bring cheers on the face of the 'aam aadmi' (common man) by dedicating himself towards streamlining the administration after unfurling the tri-colour at the Independence-Day parade in the Old Secretariat Complex.
''Cooperation of the common man is a must for the success of any Government and I initiate all steps by toning up the administration suitably for the satisfaction of one and all,'' Mr Kamat said here today.
In his maiden address of the parade, Mr Kamat further said the Union Petroleum Ministry has accepted a proposal for laying the Dabhol-Bangalore gas pipeline through Goa that will benefit the state.
''The state is planning to open 'citizen's facilitation centres' at each of the municipalities where the people could get all the certificates at one place,'' Mr Kamat said.
''One such centre has been opened at Margao even as efforts are underway to set up an administrative tribunal here to benefit the people of south Goa,'' he added.
The CM also enumerated a number of schemes to boost employment potential and check inflation.
Later, Mr Kamat presented awards to Civil Defence Instructor Chandraksh Kushali Rane and Home Guard Suresh Bala Patekar for their meritorious services.
Several cabinet colleagues, politicians including the BJP opposition leader Manohar Parrikar and bureaucrats like Chief Secretary J P Singh and B S Brar (DGP) were present on the occasion.
The tri-colour was hoisted at various taluk headquarters in the state by several ministers and legislators and glorious tributes were paid to the freedom-fighters who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country.
