Ban on poultry lifted in Manipur
Imphal, Aug 15 (UNI) The Manipur government had lifted the ban on poultry products today.
State veterinary department officials said the ban was however lifted only beyond a radius of five km from Chingmeirong, Imphal East where Avian Infuenza was detected.
The surveillance work would continue till November and the restrictions would continue to be imposed in the highly populated areas of Imphal.
However, disease-free status had not yet been declared by the state government.
A central team was still camping at Imphal East to supervise the progress of the surveillance works, veterinary officials said.
About Rs 217 crores loss was incurred in the culling process, veterinary officials added.
The presence of Avian Influenza was first confirmed on July 25 and the culling process was immediately started.
