Ajmer Dargah celebrated I-Day for first time in 60 years

Ajmer, Aug 15 (UNI) Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti's dargah celebrated the Independence Day for the first time in 60 years in its premises and raised the Indian tricolor as a mark of respect to the nation.

The dargah, known for its secular credentials, brotherhood and unity, celebrated 60th year of independence for the first time in its history.

Young khadims including Yasir Gurdeji and many others laid chadars on the mazaar and wished for peace and progress of the nation.

Earlier the Khadims had wanted to lay a tricolour chadar on the mazar but after experienced khadims raised objections including vocal objections by police, they dropped the idea fearing an unnecessary controversy.

However, programme organiser Gurdeji said all consumer goods including sweets and cakes are sold in tricolors on this day, so a tricolour on the Ajmer Sahrif should not have been a matter of debate but they have accepted the advice of the old and refrained from doing so.
