Westerlies provide relief from hot, humid weather

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Cool Westerly winds today continued to provide Delhiites a respite from hot and humid conditions leading to a dip in the temperature to 34.2 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature maintained at 27.7 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35 degrees.

Weatherman has forecast rain in Delhi and other plains of North west India in the next two to three days under the influence of a fresh low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal.

''The current meteorological analysis suggests scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over plains of Northwest India,'' the Met office said.

After nearly a week of dry conditions and, consequently, hot and humid weather, the capital city on Sunday night received a brief spell of moderate showers, which brought down the mercury by four degrees.

The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in the capital during the next 24 hours with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
