'Village Development Plan' launched in HP village

Una, Aug 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Industry Minister Kuldip Kumar today launched the NABARD sponsored 'Village Development Plan' scheme in Mawa Kohlan village of Gagret Developmental block.

Under the three year scheme, a total of 1,000 villages in the country have been selected in the first phase. Mawa Kohlan is the only village in the district selected under the scheme.

The Minister said the scheme includes development of rural infrastructure, promotion of newer interventions in agriculture, forestry, horticulture and animal husbandry besides improvement in sanitation, construction of link roads and installation of street lights.

NABARD Genaral manager ST Raghuraman said kisan clubs and women self-help groups would also be formed in the village for its socio-economic development.

Mr Raghuraman informed that NABARD was providing Rs 200 crores for various schemes in Una district.
