Vigilance chief among 6 officers awarded CM's gold medal in J and K

Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Dr Ashok Bhan, head of State Vigilance Organisation, was among six senior officers in Jammu and Kashmir who have been awarded the Chief Minister's gold medal on the eve of Independence Day.

Dr Bhan, who has launched a massive drive against corrupt officials in the state, hit the headlines after a senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minister in the Congress led coalition government in the state accused the VO of targetting only Kashmiri officers.

The other officers who were awarded the gold medal and Rs one lac and a certificate included Chief Secretary C Phunsog, Financial Commissioner Home B R Kundal, Principal secretary General Administration Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Commissioner secretary Finance B B Vyas and custodian general Kifayat Hussain Rizvi.
