Undertrial demands special treatment, injures himself
Solapur, Maharashtra, Aug 14 (UNI) An undertrial, arrested on murder charges, inflicted injuries upon himself after the Solapur District Jail authorities refused to provide him with special facilities.
Solapur Jail authorities told UNI that the undertrial Anand Rampal Valmiki, was arrested last month on charges of murder.
However, as he is a HIV positive case, the undertrial demanded special treatment which was refused.
''The undertrial tore his clothes and banged his head on the walls. He later threatened to infect us with his blood. We never reacted but called up the Solapur police headquarters and sent him to the Solapur Civil Hospital for first aid,'' the jail authorities said.
The prisoner has been brought back to the jail and is well. But, he continues to demand cigarettes and other things, the authorities said.
