Tight security for peaceful I-Day celebrations
Jammu, Aug 14 (UNI) Tight security measures have been made to ensure peaceful celebrations of India's 60th year of independence in this region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Following the recent rise in terror incidents in the state, adequate number of security personnel have been deployed at Mini Stadium where Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma will hoist the tricolour tomorrow.
Sharpshooters have been deployed around the venue to check any suspecious movement in the area.
Random searches of vehicles and areas are being made by the para-military forces and police at various entry points to the city.
The main function will be held at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar where Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will unfurl the National flag.
Authorties have assured an inconveninece-free i-day celebrations for the people.
''there will be no restrictions in the city, apart from some traffic diversions that too on the internal peripheries,'' District Commisiioner (Jammu) H K Singh has said.
Several educational institutions and other departments have organised flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes at the places.
