Tight security arrangement in place for Independence day in K'taka

Bangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) In the backdrop of the threat from the terrorists groups, elaborate Security arrangements were made for the peaceful celebration of the Nation's 60th independence day in the city and other parts of the state tomorrow.

A security blanket has been thrown around the Manekshaw Parade Ground, the main venue of the state's celebrations. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would unfurl the National flag in Bangalore tomorrow.

Large number of security personnel had been engaged for the trouble free conduct of the Independence day celebrations in which dignitaries including Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi, several political leaders, senior police and military officials would take part.

Top Police sources informed UNI that strict vigil would be maintained in all the entry and exit points and other important locations in the city, where surveillance equipment had been installed to monitor the movement of vehicles and people.

Maximum security was provided to Vidhana Soudha, High Court Complex and other sensitive institutions located in the heart of the city.

The police had also beefed up security measures in other parts of the state including Mysore, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Hubli and Belgaum as a precautionary measure.
