Stir demanding deportation of Taslima
Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamaath today staged a slogan-shouting demonstration, demanding that the Centre deport controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen for ''hurting the sentiments of Muslims.'' More than 300 activists, including women, participated in the agitation, led by Jamath State Secretary S M Backer, in front of the Memorial Hall here.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Muslims would continue with their protests till the Centre sent back the writer, who had taken refuge in India after she was exiled from Bangladesh.
Her remarks on Muslim women had hurt the senitments of the community, he said.
