Srinagar-Leh highway remains closed for the 2nd day today
Srinagar, Aug 14 (UNI) The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway remained closed for the second day today.
Traffic on the highway was suspended yesterday after a bridge was washed away by floods. However, traffic on Drass-Kargil-Leh was plying normally.
Traffic would be resumed on the highway only after August 17, officials said. A traffic police official told UNI that efforts are going on to restore traffic.
However, a UNI report from Kargil said it will take another three to four days to resume traffic on the highway.
It said a number of vehicles, scheduled to leave for Srinagar, are stranded at Drass and Kargil.
Similarly the vehicle, which left here for Drass, Kargil and Leh are also stranded on this side, official sources said.
