Mr Benegal said he would advice Yojana editors to also include articles evaluating the development that had taken place so far.
Ms Ali said the audio CD should also be made available to the CFSI as its films reach about 50 lakh children.
The special issue of Yojana, published in 13 langauges, takes a journey through the landmark events that shaped the Indian economy.
It has broadly three sections. The first one is an economic critique of British colonialism, the second is on the issues concerning Indian economy since 1947 to the present period and the third is on future growth strategy.
The rich collection of essays is by experts in their field. To name a few, the contributors are noted historians - Bipan Chandra, Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, Aditya Mukherji and also M S Swaminathan, (MP and Agriculture Scientist), O P Bhatt (SBI, Chairman), Madhav Chavan, (PRATHAM), Devaki Jain (Development Economist), Narayana N R Murthy (INFOSYS) and Azim Premji (WIPRO).

Yojana is a monthly devoted to socio-economic issues. It started its publication in 1957 with the blessings of then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Mr Khuswant Singh was the first Editor. The magazine is now published in 13 languages viz. English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Oriya.
The journal, though an official venture, tries to accommodate plurality of views and opinions on varied issues of national importance to give a balanced picture.
Yojana's endeavour has been to be a journal of mass circulation, to communicate with the common people in their languages and be available at a price they can afford.
The audio CD has been especially designed to allow easy navigation between chapters, pages and even paragraphs. This would be extremely useful for the visually impaired who are deprived of such books on an important issue like 1857.
