Sonia to inaugurate Jaihind Malayalam TV Channel on Aug 17
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Malayalees in Kerala and all over the world will have yet another choice of watching programmes in Malayalam with the launch of Jaihind Television channel on August 17.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will dedicate the new channel to the nation on Malayalam New Year's day at a function at Siri Fort Auditorium here.
Though Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has a major stake in the channel, it will take an independent and unbiased stand on news and current affairs telecast, said KPCC President and president of Jaihind TVRamesh Chennithala."It is not a Congress channel", he asserted.
Mr Chennithala claimed the channel would uphold the democratic, secular values of the nation. A channel with a national outlook, it would have a clear view on social and political issues. It would be a tribute to Kerala, its culture, its heritage and most importantly its people. Keeping India in focus it would try to reach global citizens and address issues of global relevance.
"Jaihind TV is the voice of the global Malayalees, portrayal of Kerala's culture and society, based on the ideals of nationalism and seek to live up to the values of secularism, patriotism and democracy," he said.
A joint venture of Bharat Broadcasting Network and Jaihind Communications, the new channel would give primacy to infotainment and sufficient time for children's programme women and youth, health and sports also find a prominent place in the programmes of Jaihind TV.
Bharat Brodcasting Chairman Aniyankutty, Jaihind Communications Chairman Vijayan Thomas and Director M M Hassan were also present at the conference.
The inaugural function will be attended by Union Ministers A K Antony , Vayalar Ravi and Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, Kerala Education and Culture Minister M A Baby, Kerala CLP Leader Oommen Chandy and superstar Mohanlal and others. It will be followed by a musical night lead by famous playback singers.
