SEZ can lower unemployment rate: Moily
Mangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) Central Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman M Veerappa Moily today said SEZs were mooted to generate more job opportunities besides developing industry sector.
Delivering a key-note address at the inauguration of Special Courses in Engineering for Mangalore SEZ (MSEZ) displaced youth here, he said the country had made a remarkable achievements in Information Technology and service sectors. Setting up of SEZs would further lower the unemployment rate, he added.
The fast changing scenario in the globe necessitated a revolution in education.
Complimenting the MSEZ authorities for providing free technical education to the youth of the displaced families, he said cooperation of this sort was needed from corporate sector in solving employment.
MSEZ Chairman and Managing Director Prasad said the Commerce Ministry was expected to issue a notification for the setting up of the Zone within a month.
He said 1,721 acres of land had been, already, acquired for the MSEZ. The National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) was carrying out a rapid environment impact assessment and environmental risk management plan, including rapid risk analysis of Olefin Complex, rapid risk analysis for phase III refinery and aromatic complex.
