Security intensified for I-Day celebrations
Hyderabad, Aug 14: In the wake of recent attack on exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Mecca Masjid bomb blast and naxal threat, the city police have strengthened the security to prevent any untoward incident on the occasion of Independence day tomorrow.
All branches of the Police department, from Task Force to Quick Reaction Teams and Special City Security Wing police have been pressed into service in the city to conduct checks at various police posts. Additional forces were deployed in the sensitive old city and patrolling intensified across the city.
Police were also conducting flash vehicle checks at several intersections and frisking the commuters.
A security blanket has been thrown over the Secunderabad Parade Grounds, the venue of Independence Day celebrations. Bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage check teams and sniffer dogs were scanning the the grounds.
