Reliance to open first hypermarket in Ahmedabad tomorrow

Ahmedabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Reliance Mart, the largest hypermarket arm of Reliance Retail, a division of Reliance Industries, is to open its first outlet in the city tomorrow to coincide with the 60th Independence Day.

Addressing mediapersons here today on the occasion of its pre-launch session, Reliance Retail (Operation) president Raghu Pillai said after the successful launch of the supermarket format ''Reliance Fresh'' and the consumer electronics concept mega store ''Reliance Digital'', the hypermarket is the third retail format by Reliance retail.

''The launch of Reliance Mart is yet another step by Reliance Retail towards providing an international shopping experience to all our customers at unmatched affordability, guaranteed quality at affordable price,'' he said.

Mr Pillai said Reliance Retail plans to have a pan-India presence by opening over 30 Reliance Mart hypermarkets this year and the second and third hypermarkets are set to open in September this year at Jamnagar in Gujarat and Gurgaon in Haryana.

Reliance Mart is part of the Reliance Group's Rs 25,000 crore retail initiative. Indian retail market growth by 2015 would be over 637 billion US dollar. Reliance Retail has rolled out over 240 convenience stores under the Reliance Fresh chain of grocery stores since October last year, he said.

Spread across 165,000 sq ft of shopping area, Reliance Mart will provide a shopping delight to the shoppers. The store will carry a range of over 95,000 products catering to the entire family.

Shoppers will have an option to choose from a wide array of products ranging from fresh produce, food and grocery, home care products, apparel and accessories, non-food FMCG products, consumer durables and IT, automotive accessories, lifestyle product and footwear, he added.
