Poonam Mahajan-Rao to depose on August 23

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) Poonam Mahajan-Rao, daughter of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, will depose in the special court here on August 23, to give her evidence on her father's murder on April 22, last year.

Poonam today came in the court for deposition, but the prosecution asked her to come on August 23 for recording her evidence.

Earlier, a 23rd witness ballistic expert, Dr H A Despande, was examined in the court.

During deposition, Dr Deshpande said on April 27 last year she had received a parcel containing a pistol, cartridges and a magazine from Worli police station, which she had opened for examination.

Replying to a query raised by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, she said she is working as ballistic expert for the last five years. During her tenure, she had examined more than 1,200 weapons.

Dr Deshpande identified the pistol and magazine in the court and told the court that after examining the weapon, cartridges and magazine, she had submitted the report to the police.

Her cross-examination will continue on August 23.
