Orissa govt to install one thousand LI Points every year

Bhubaneswar, Aug 14 (UNI) The Oriss government today decided to install 1000 new Lift Irrigation (LI)points in the state every year to cover more crop land under irrigation for the development of agriculture.

The decision was taken at a review meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Official sources here said the Lift Irrigation points would be installed under the Biju Krushak Yojana.

Sources said out of the total 3543 Lift Iirrigation points to be installed so far 2729 LI points had already been installed and 57,000 hectares of crop land had been brought under irrigation by the end of July this year.
