NHPC pays dividend of Rs 278 crore

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) today said it has paid Rs 278 crore to the Government for the financial year 2006-07.

The Corporation has already paid an interim dividend amount of Rs 72 crore in December 2006.

Company CMD S K Garg today handed a cheque for the balance amount of Rs 206 crore to Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, said a company statement.

During the year 2006-07, the Corporation has registered a net profit of Rs 924.80 crore as compared to Rs 742.75 crore during previous financial year.

During the financial year 2005-06, NHPC had paid a dividend of Rs 223 crore while Rs 140 crore in the previous financial year.
