Live grenade, 12 cartridges recovered in North Bengal
Siliguri, Aug 14 (UNI) A live grenade was recovered at East Khaterbari village of Mathbhanga in Coochbehar district yesterday.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer(SDPO) of Mathabhanga Ananda Roy told UNI here today that no one had so far been arrested in this connection.
The bomb was hidden in a bamboo bush in that village, the SDPO added.
''We have no idea regarding the character of the bomb. Bomb experts of Binnaguri Army Station would come to examine the bomb,'' Mr Roy said.
He added that police was keeping a strict vigil on the movements of militants.
Meanwhile, Bagdogra Airport security arrested one person, carrying 12 cartridges in his luggage. He was handed over to the West Bengal police today after interrogation.
The arrested person, Narendra Singh Sekhawat(54), was a resident of Pilan in Rajasthan, police said.
