India Coast Guard evacuates Chinese crew from mid-sea

Port Blair, Aug 14 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard has rescued an injured Chinese crew from a foreign vessel near Andaman and Nicobar Islands, officials here said today.

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Port Blair) of Coast Guard after receiving a message from a Singapore based shipping company launched a rescue operation and evacuated the injured crew, Zhan Fang Yong.

Commandant Akshay Jain of the Coast Guard told UNI a helicopter was used to evacuate the injured crew from a vessel which was cruising to Thailand carrying cargo of pig iron from Halida in West Bengal.
