Hearing on naxal's police custody deferred to Aug 16

Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) A TADA court today adjourned hearing, till August 16, into an application seeking police custody for naxalite Sundaramoorthy, for questioning about the 1992 bomb blast case.

The naxalite, who was arrested recently at Tiruppur, was produced before TADA Judge T Ramaswamy in connection with the bomb blast at Kamalapuram railway station on the Dharmapuri- Palacode section in 1992.

Of the three accused in the case, one was granted bail and the other was convicted, while Sundaramoorthy had evaded arrest since then.

After he was produced before the court, the Q branch police filed a petition seeking police custody for interrogation.

When the defence opposed it, the court adjourned the matter to August 16.
