A tunnel is planned at Zojila and the railway trains would soon become a reality and the valley will thereafter get connected with railway lines in Jammu.

Besides, the institutions of higher learning have been making most commendable progress and the universities are getting widely reorganised as institutions of excellence. School education has also made considerable progress in the State, he added.

Greeting people on the occasion of Independence Day, the Governor said India with its crown of Jammu and Kashmir State is emerging as a global power.

He paid tributes to the previous generations that made this march of progress possible.

Quoting great philosopher poet Alama Iqbal's immortal words, 'Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara', he said this has acquired additional meaning giving more hope and confidence.
