Energise for bypoll, 2009 general election: Mulayam

Lucknow, Aug 14 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today exhorted party cadres to energise themselves for the forthcoming bypoll and 2009 general election.

''You need to burn the midnight oil and leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party organisation to ensure success in the bypoll and general election,'' Mr Yadav said, at an address here to newly elected office-bearers after restructing of SP district and city units.

In view of the August 31 bypoll for the Gunnaur, Swartanda and Farrukhabad seats, the SP chief directed office-bearers to energise the party organisation at the village level and share responsibilties among them.

Directing the establishment of Booth Committees on a large scale in the wake of the 2009 Lok Sabha election, the former CM said honest and dedicated leaders in the organisation need to be encouraged.

He further directed party cadres to constantly work towards public welfare, which will add to the mushrooming popularity of the SP.

''I believe in an equity-based society. Therefore, irrespective of caste and creed, one should be given due representation in the party organisation.

Denouncing the Mayawati government for its new Agriculture Policy, Mr Yadav said ''the policy is anti-farmer and will affect 98 per cent of them.'' UNI ATI VS PB BST2121
