Doctors get anticipatory bail in negligence case
Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) City Civil and Sessions court Principal Judge Ashok Bhangale today granted anticipatory bail to four doctors of Nanavati Hospital here who are embroiled in a negligence case leading to the death of a patient eight years ago.
A pregnant woman, Pritima More, was admitted to the Nanavati Hospital on November 12, 1999 and had died on the same day. Her husband had accused the doctors of being responsible for his wife's death.
An independent committee probe was instituted by the government-run J J Hospital which submitted its report recently following which a formal complaint was lodged against the doctors Saturday last.
Following this, the doctors had moved the court for anticipatory bail which was granted today on the ground that the sections under which they have been booked, are bailable offences.
