Budget airlines to fly to remote areas
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The government today said budget airlines would soon fly to many more states in the country and a second runway would be operational at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi from June-July 2008.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in Rajya Sabha during Question Hour that the government's endeavour was to improve air connectivity and bring in many more states in the airlines' loop so that more and more people find it easy to travel by air.
For this purpose, budget airlines would be flying to more states and remote parts of the country would also be air-connected. He, however, did not give a timeframe.
He also denied that the government had allowed any foreign airline to come to India and said the policy of 49 per cent shares had not changed.
He also assured that there was no move to change the government policy.
