BMC to spend Rs 16 cr for Ganeshotsav preparations

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will spend more than Rs 16 crore for Ganeshotsav celebrations this year, which commences on September 15.

Speaking to reporters here today, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said the Corporation will spend the money in the various wards for repairing roads and other preparations, like creating artificial ponds and kalashes in the city, needed for the festival.

''The cut-outs and hoardings put up by various mandals regarding the festival will be free of cost,'' he said.

On the use of eco-friendly products during the celebrations, Mr Gajbeye said the organisers should be more careful and use eco-friendly products to avoid imposition of any strict rules and regulations by the Corporation.
