BMC school students to gegt milk from September end

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The students of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation schools will be given free flavoured milk every day from September-end.

Speaking to reporters today, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said there was delay in distribution of milk because the Corporation could not find a supplier for its ambitious project.

''We had approached Amul, one of the largest suppliers of milk and milk products, but they conveyed their inability to supply the same'' said Gajbeye.

The contract has been awarded to Rashtriya Mill Mazdoor Grahak Sangh, after it fullfilled all the specifications.

The BMC plans to spend Rs 150 crore this year for this proposal and will require 80,000 litres of milk every day for the 5 lakh students in its schools.
