Biological father demands exhumation of son's body

Aizawl, Aug 14 (UNI) The body of Vanlalpeka, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself, will be exhumed here today, after a request from his biological father.

Vanlalpeka (13) was found dead with a rope around his neck inside a storeroom in his Chhinga Veng locality on August 12 after he went missing on August 9.

Official sources said the police did not suspect foul play since the Class VI student was allegedly addicted to drugs, which was proved by the fact that a bottle of correcting fluid was found inside his school bag.

It had been concluded that he committed suicide under the influence of the sniffing substance.

His parents also reportedly said they did not suspect anything since it was not the first time the boy failed to return home from school.

The boy's biological mother and stepfather, with whom the boy lived, reportedly took initiative to allow his body to be buried without conducting post mortem on August 12.

However, when the boy's biological father, who lived in Hortoki in west Mizoram, became suspicious, he rushed to Aizawl yesterday and undertook necessary procedures for the exhumation of the body.

Meanwhile, the boy's stepfather denied allegations of ill treatment of the boy, sources said.
