Bhabha Hospital to get new look

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The K B H Bhabha Hospital in Kurla is poised to wear a new look soon with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Standing Committee today passing a proposal for a Rs 5 crore face-lift.

The proposal was passed today despite most Standing Committee members opposing the high cost of renovation at Rs 4031.87 per square foot.

Opposition Leader in the BMC, Raj Hans Singh said, ''The cost of the renovation is very high and the proposal should be passed only after the contractor provided every detail about the renovation work.'' Shiv Sena corporator Anuradha Pednekar in whose ward the hospital is situated said, ''The cost is very high but we need the hospital for the locals and the administration should take a favourable decision on it soon so that the people do not suffer.'' Additional Municipal Commissioner Shrikant Singh admitted that the proposal is around seven per cent more than the official estimates but the work is justified compared to the hospital's importance.
