Bal Thackeray supports Amitabh Bachchan on land issue

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) Shiv sena chief Bal Thackeray today came out in support of mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan on the issue of purchase of agricultural land at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh and Lonavala in Maharashtra.

In an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna', Mr Thackeray, who enjoys a close friendship with Mr Bachchan, said on one hand the industrialists were taking the land of farmers in the name of Special Economic Zones, while on the other the ruling parties at the centre and the state were making a hue and cry after the star purchased two acres of land.

On his old association with Mr Bachchan, Mr Thackeray recalled how he himself had advised him not to be afraid when his name got embroiled in the Bofors controversy.

The editorial said the actor was being targetted because of his 'sour' relations with the Gandhi family.
