Alert sounded in Bihar to ensure violence free I-Day celebration

Patna, Aug 14 (UNI) An alert has been sounded across Bihar on the eve of the 60th Independence Day to foil any attempt of anti-India forces to create disturbances during the celebrations to mark the occasion.

Police superintendents of all the extremists affected districts have been asked to ensure fool proof security arrangements in vulnerable areas. An intensive frisking operation was launched across the state to check the movement of the extremists and trouble mongers.

The districts which have been placed under strict surveillance are--Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurngabad, Jamui, Rohtas, Kaimur and Bhagalpur.

''Security arrangements have been beefed up in all vital installations and government offices across the state'', official sources said.

Meanwhile, Army spokesman of Danapur cantonment A P Pandey said that the troops were ordered to intensify checking in and around the cantonment area.

''Cell phones are not being allowed in the sensitive areas while vehicles are being permitted inside the restricted areas only after a thorough check'', he added.

Railways have stepped up the security in all the passengers trains and number of security personnel guarding the trains and stations in sensitive areas, was increased to foil any bid of disruptive elements.

RPF Commandant Maheshwar Singh said a fool proof security cover was being provided to important passenger trains running between Patna and New Delhi.
