Airport customs seize ornamental fish from air passenger
Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) Officials of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit seized 176 ornamental fish from a passenger at Anna International Airport here today.
Airport authorities said there was a great demand for ornamental fish in the country and the seized fish was worth about Rs five lakh.
They said, the passenger Mohamad Thamim Ansari (33), who arrived from Malaysia, had packed the fish in plastic bags and kept them in two huge suitcases.
The officials had slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on the passenger and the seized fish was sent to Vandaloor fish aquarium.
