AIR to celebrate Golden Jubilee of 'Malayalam News'

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 14 (UNI) As part of the All India Radio's 50th year of Malayalam News Broadcast, the Akashavani Stations in the state will air various programmes.

An official release here today said the AIR stations of Thiruvanathapuram and Alappuzha would broadcast ''Pookkalam'', a film song programme, presented by state Ministers, Speaker and Opposition Leader, from tomorrow.

Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan, Opposition Leader Omman Chandy, State Education Minister M A Baby, Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran and Cooperation Minister C Divakaran would present the songs, it said.

The AIR would also broadcast ''Ormakalilude'', where the news readers of AIR in the last 50 years would share their experiences.

The ''Varthatharangini'' programme would be based on history of 50 years of Malayalam News broadcasting, the release said.
