ACCI lauds govt's proposed industrial policy

Itanagar, Aug 14 (UNI) The Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries(ACCI) has lauded the state government decision to incorporate some of the suggestions put by the apex trading body in the proposed new industrial policy of the state.

While welcoming the move, ACCI president Lala Techi and general secretary Tarak Nachung said the policy would encourage setting up of industries in the state and outside investments.

The chambers had earlier suggested the state government to identify an industrial growth centre in each district and ensure its development with proper infrastructure, besides offering incentives, including power tariff subsidies, tax holiday benefits, single window facilities for issue of licence and raw materials quota for setting up units by local entrepreneurs.

Other suggestions put forward by the ACCI included increase in land leasing period, facility for opening wholesale stockists, distributors in district headquarters, expediting opening of multi-purpose check gates at all entry points of the state, review and reduction of VAT rates on all processed items, police beats in market areas for security and expediting green field airport and railway projects to improve connectivity for smooth flow of goods and services at cheaper rates.

Meanwhile, the chamber, in its general body meeting on August 12, resolved to amend its bylaws in order to boost trade and commerce in the state.
