20 NITs Institutions of National Importance From 61st I-Day
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) As many as twenty National Institutes of Technology will be proclaimed Institutions of National Importance with effect from India's 61st Independence Day tomorrow, it was announced today.
''National Institutes of Technology Act 2007 becomes Operational on 15th Aug 2007,'' an announcement by the Human Resource Development Ministry said.
The Act received Presidential assent two months ago-- June 5-- and 20 central institutions have been incorporated into it, the announcement said.
They are: Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad; Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal; National Institute of Technology, Calicut; National Institute of Technology, Durgapur; National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur; Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur; Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar; National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur; National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra; Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur; National Institute of Technology, Patna; National Institute of Technology, Raipur; National Institute of Technology, Rourkela ; National Institute of Technology, Silchar; National Institute of Technology, Srinagar; Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat; National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal; National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli; National Institute of Technology, Warangal; and National Institute of Technology, Agartala.
