YSR votebank politics led to attack on Taslima

Hyderabad, Aug 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh today alleged that the votebank politics of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy led to the attack on Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leaders in the city on August 9.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP State unit Spokesperson N Ramachander Rao accused the Congress Government of dancing to the tunes of the AIMIM by not taking action against the assailants.

The Government had allowed the AIMIM leaders to go almost scot-free even after cases were booked against them, he added.

Alleging that the Union and State Governments had failed to monitor the movements of the exiled writer, he held the Government responsible for not providing adequate security to the author.
