New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) Unruly scenes were today witnessed in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as members of the ruling BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party traded blows, forcing adjournment of the House for about an hour.

As the House began its sitting this afternoon, Councillors of the BSP stood up on their seats to protest against the partisal attitude of Mayor Arti Mehra towards their grievances.

The members alleged that they were often forced to wait outside the Mayor's office for hours altogether without being granted an audience.

Shouting slogans against the BJP Government, the BSP members entered the well of the house. This was followed by many BJP councillors also entering the well to express their ire over the House not being allowed to function.

What followed was a free-for-all which saw BSP and BJP members hurling sandals over one another and trading blows. The pandemonium forced the Mayor to adjourn the house for about an hour.

When the House resumed after the adjournment, members cutting across party lines expressed their sadness at the ruckus in the House caused by the clash between BSP and BJP members.

Leader of the Opposition Jaikishen Sharma said incidents like these lowered the dignity of the House and should not recur.

Leader of the House Subhash Arya also expressed regret over the incident and said it should be ensured that such incidents do not happen in the future.

The house, then resumed normal operation.
