Two rebels gunned down by police in Assam
Guwahati, Aug 13 (UNI) Two KLNLF militants were gunned down by police in the trouble-torn Karbi Anglong district this morning.
District ASP Nityananda Goswami informed that the two rebels were gunned down by a police team carrying out combing operation in the Mauzadar Basti area of Bokajan.
A pistol, 800 kg RDX, incriminating documents and camouflage were recovered from their possession.
The KLNLF is believed to be behind the recent serial killing of 29 Hindi-speaking people across the district. Meanwhile, the Hindi-speaking people have started fleeing the district even as a section took shelter in the relief camps set up at various places in the wake of the unabated strikes on the community. The KLNLF, the anti-talk faction of the United People's Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), was reported to have carried out the killing with the help of the ULFA. Intelligence reports said cadres of both the outfits were seen moving together in the district.
