Retail traders down their shutters against entry of MNCs

Mangalore, Aug 13 (UNI) The retail trading in this Port City came to a grinding halt following a bandh call given by retail traders and petty shop owners in in protest against the entry of Multi-National Companies (MNCs) in the retail business.

The retail merchants, closing down their shutters, who gathered at the Central market in huge number took out a protest march to the Deputy Commissioner's Office shouting slogans against the entry of the MNCs in the retail field.

The wholesale traders in Bunder area, who opened their shops, however, expressed their support to the bandh.

The agitators later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
