Railways carry 247.05 MT of freight during April-July

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Railways carried 247.05 million tonne of revenue earning freight during the first four months of the current fiscal, registering an increase of 13.84 million tonne over the freight traffic of 233.21 million during the corresponding period last year.

It also reflected an increase of 5.93 per cent.

During July, the freight traffic carried by the Railways was 61.80 million tonne, showing an increase of 4.43 million tonne over the freight traffic of 57.37 million tonne during the same period last year.

The Railways earn 67 per cent of its revenues through freight but accounts for only 33 per cent of the entire freight business in the country.
