Pvt medical colleges told to collect fees fixed by Committee
Kochi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today ordered four private Self-Financing Medical Colleges to collect the fees fixed by the Fee Regulatory Committee.
Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan also directed the state government to ensure that the Medical Colleges charged the fee fixed by the Committee.
The Court gave the order while hearing a petition filed by Vasim Ali and Binil Salam of Aluva.
The petitioners contended that the four medical colleges -- Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical college (Kolencherry), Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre (Thiruvalla), the Jubilee Mission Medical College (Thrissur) and the Amala Institute of Medical Sciences (Amalagiri) were charging fee in contravention to the Committee's report.
Justice P A Mohammed Committee had gone into the issue of fixing fees and passed an order in April in this regard.
However, some of the colleges had formed a consortium and had decided to conduct an entrance test on their own and decided to charge exorbitant fee, the petitioners contended.
