Punjab minister for demarcating work of GMADA and Mohali MC

Chandigarh, Aug 13 (UNI) Punjab Co-operation Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh today underlined the need to specifically demarcate the area for undertaking development works between Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and Municipal Council, Mohali to ensure the rapid and overall development of Mohali.

He directed the Chief Secretary to convene a meeting for an early decision on this issue.

He said that the GMADA was constituted with a specific purpose of integrated development of Mohali IT city and Chief Secretary should clarify the controlling areas for GMADA and MC, Mohali to ensure that due to any confusion the purpose of GMADA should not be defeated abinitio Capt Singh gave these instructions while reviewing the development works undertaken in Mohali. Chief Administrator, GMADA, Executive Officer of MC, Mohali and Municipal Councilors were also present.

Capt Singh said that there was a great deal of confusion regarding the distribution of area for development works between GMADA and MC. Therefore, this issue should be settled for once and all he told the meeting.

On this occasion, number of Municipal Councilors complained against Municipal Authorities for ignoring their wards especially in executing the development works already sanctioned and approved.
