Chandigarh, Aug 13 (UNI) Haryana Power Utilities have made an ambitious programme for strengthening the transmission and distribution network of electricity in Sonepat district where demand for power was growing at a rate of 14 per cent per annum.

Giving details of the ongoing works being carried out in the district jointly by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN), Lt Gen (Retd) O S Lohchab, Chairman, Haryana Power Utilities said the domestic and tubewell load of 56 feeders of 11 KV level supplying power to the villages would be segregated during the current financial year.

It would benefit 250 villages of the district and the domestic consumers would get more power after segregation of feeders, he said.

The Nigam had also identified 19 heavily overloaded feeders of 11 KV level including 2 feeders in Sonepat town and 17 in rural areas. The load on these feeders was more than 200 Amperes and it had been decided to bifurcate or trifurcate the feeders with heavy load to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

He said that under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), about 20000 connections would be released to BPL card holders during the current financial year.

It had been targeted to supply power through High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) or Low Voltage Distribution System (LVDS) in 25 villages and 3 residential colonies of Sonepat town during the current financial year.

Out of these, the work had already been completed in 15 villages and 3 residential colonies and the remaining work would be completed with in three months.
