Police officer escapes militant attack in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Aug 13 (UNI) A police party, headed by a senior officer, had a close shave when militants ambushed their vehicle at Sopore in this district this evening.

Official sources said militants attacked a police party, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ashraf, at Teliangan, Sopore.

The Police party retaliated and the encounter continued for some time.

The sources said one civilian was injured in the shootout.

However, the Militants managed to escape, they added.
